Leif Mangelsen

BIOGRAPHY

At 24 years of age, Leif Mangelsen has already been fusing technology and
music for ten years. He began in 1994, performing with Ann Arbor and
Detroit, Michigan musicians, experimenting with prepared instruments,
effects processors,improvisational composition and stage theatrics.

By 1997 Leif had begun producing records for his own and other local bands,
developing experimental production techniques that came to define the sound
of a critically acclaimed but deeply underground music movement centered in
Ann Arbor.

Inspired by his exposure to electronic music and new media art while
Spending a year in Europe, Leif promptly switched his focus to digital media
production and began studies in Arts Management, Sound Production, and
Interactive Multimedia at Chicago's Columbia College in 1999. He has since
experimented with interactive composition, generative art, and physical
interactive multimedia environments.

Currently Leif is teaching the production of recorded music for the Arts
Management Department of Columbia College and collaborating with certain
Chicago artists and designers to develop interactive multimedia performances
and products.
